Quick answer

Horsewood is meant to work as a daily two-capsule dose of seven ingredients sold for male vitality.

Tongkat ali and boron are the hormone-linked ingredients, horny goat weed is aimed at desire, and four botanicals round out the blend.

For each amount, see the Horsewood ingredients.

What is the basic idea behind Horsewood?

The basic idea is a steady daily dose of seven herbs and minerals sold for male vitality. The sales page frames the goal as support for libido, desire and male response.

Most of the seven have a few trials behind them, run at amounts well above the label. The two-capsule product as a whole has no trial.

Seller graphic titled How it works with four tiles: take as directed, botanical formula, daily wellness and every day, beside the Horsewood bottle
The seller’s four tiles describe a routine, not an effect. None of them names a result, a dose of an active ingredient or a time frame.

Read the tiles in order: take the product as directed, rely on a botanical formula, aim for daily wellness, and repeat every day. That is a habit plan. The body side of the story comes from the ingredients.

How does the Horsewood formula plan fit together?

The Horsewood plan stacks five ideas, and each one maps to a group of label ingredients. Read the steps as the intent behind the formula, not as measured results.

  1. 1

    Two capsules a day

The label serving is two capsules with 8 oz of water. Seven lines share 118 mg.

  2. 2

    Hormone-linked ingredients

Tongkat ali and boron are the two picks most tied to testosterone research.

  3. 3

    Desire and response

Horny goat weed is the herb most sold for sexual function.

  4. 4

    Men’s health botanicals

Saw palmetto, nettle leaf, wild yam and sarsaparilla round out the blend.

  5. 5

    A daily routine

The plan relies on taking it every day, not on a single dose.

What role does each Horsewood ingredient play on paper?

On paper, each Horsewood ingredient covers one of four roles: hormones, desire, prostate health or old hormone claims. The table pairs each role with what research found and the amount on the label.

The full research view for every line is on the Horsewood ingredients page.

Can the tongkat ali in Horsewood affect testosterone or cortisol?

Tongkat ali is the Horsewood ingredient with the most human data for hormones. A review of small trials found a rise in total testosterone, but at 100 to 600 mg of extract a day (Leisegang et al., 2022).

Horsewood lists 10 mg of a 100:1 extract. The “1,000 mg” on the label describes raw root, not the extract dose that studies measured.

  1. 4 weeks

    Stress and cortisol

200 mg a day lowered saliva cortisol in 63 stressed adults (Talbott et al., 2013).

  2. 5 weeks

    Active seniors

400 mg a day raised testosterone in a 25-person pilot with no placebo group (Henkel et al., 2014).

  3. 12 weeks

    Older men with low testosterone

100 or 200 mg a day raised total testosterone versus placebo (Chinnappan et al., 2021).

Does the boron in Horsewood free up testosterone?

One very small study suggests boron can shift hormones, but it does not show that Horsewood does. In 8 healthy men, 10 mg of boron a day for one week raised free testosterone and lowered estradiol (Naghii et al., 2011).

The Horsewood label lists 20 mg of boron amino acid chelate. That is the compound weight, so the elemental boron is lower and not stated.

NIH sets the adult upper limit at 20 mg of elemental boron a day from all sources (NIH ODS, 2022). A one-week trial in 8 men cannot tell us what happens over months.

What are saw palmetto, nettle, wild yam and sarsaparilla doing in Horsewood?

These four botanicals give Horsewood a broad men’s health profile, at 20 mg each. Their research does not support a strong role at that amount.

Two are prostate herbs, and two carry old hormone claims that research has not borne out.

Saw palmetto berry

Studied for urinary symptoms of an enlarged prostate. Even 320 to 960 mg a day did no better than placebo (Andriole et al., 2013).

Nettle leaf

Prostate studies used nettle root, not leaf, at about 300 to 600 mg a day (NIDDK LiverTox, 2023).

Wild yam root

Sold as a hormone source, but the body cannot turn it into DHEA or progesterone (MSKCC, 2022).

Sarsaparilla root

The claim that it becomes anabolic steroids is false, and no use has enough evidence (RxList, n.d.).

Does Horsewood work like an ED drug?

No. Horsewood lists no drug ingredient, and it does not work the way prescription ED pills such as sildenafil or tadalafil do.

The sales page claims “Support for healthy blood flow & male response.” That is a marketing claim; no blood-flow study of the formula exists.

Why this matters. In many sexual-enhancement products sold as supplements, FDA has found hidden sildenafil, tadalafil and other drugs (FDA, 2026). We found no FDA notice naming Horsewood, though FDA says absence from its list is not proof of safety.
ED deserves a check-up. ED can be an early sign of heart and blood vessel disease (AUA, 2018). A supplement should not stand in for a doctor visit.

Can single-herb studies tell you how Horsewood works?

Only in part. Single-herb studies show what one ingredient did at its own dose, and they cannot show what the Horsewood mix does at 118 mg.

The FTC says health claims need good human trials, with the product’s dose and formula matching what was studied (FTC, 2022). No such trial exists for Horsewood.

One herb per trial

The cited trials gave a single ingredient, never this seven-part mix.

Higher amounts

Trial doses reached 600 mg of tongkat ali extract; this label lists 10 mg.

No product trial

No published study has given people the finished Horsewood capsules.

What can’t Horsewood do?

Horsewood cannot treat a medical condition, because it is a dietary supplement and not a drug. Its limits are worth knowing before the first capsule.

The claims it does make are on the Horsewood benefits page, and a fair trial period is on the Horsewood results timeline.

  • Not a treatment for erectile dysfunction or a substitute for ED medicine
  • Not a treatment for low testosterone, BPH or any prostate condition
  • Not cleared by FDA before sale; FDA has no authority to approve supplements first
  • Not tested as a finished product in any published study
  • Not a promise of size, stamina or a set timeline

Possible reactions to each ingredient are listed on the Horsewood side effects page.

How Horsewood works: common questions

Common search questions, answered from the label and the sources cited on this page.

What is the proposed mechanism behind Horsewood?

The idea is that seven ingredients sold for male vitality, taken daily, add up to support for libido and male response. Each was studied alone at larger doses; the finished Horsewood formula has not been studied.

Can tongkat ali lower cortisol?

In one 4-week trial of stressed adults, 200 mg a day of a standardized extract lowered saliva cortisol versus placebo (Talbott et al., 2013). Horsewood lists 10 mg of extract.

What is icariin and how does it act?

Icariin is the compound horny goat weed products are usually standardized to. Benefits for sexual function have not been proven in rigorous human trials (NIDDK LiverTox, 2022), and the Horsewood label does not state its icariin content.

Does boron free up testosterone?

One study of 8 men found 10 mg of boron a day for a week raised free testosterone and lowered estradiol (Naghii et al., 2011). The study was tiny and short, and the elemental boron in Horsewood is not printed.

Do herbal blends work better together?

No one knows unless the blend itself is tested. The FTC says the dose and formula of a product should match what was studied (FTC, 2022).

Why do small doses of many herbs matter?

Each herb gets less room in the capsule. In Horsewood, seven lines share 118 mg, while single-herb trials often used 100 to 600 mg of one extract.

Is Horsewood a PDE5 inhibitor?

No. PDE5 inhibitors such as sildenafil and tadalafil are prescription drugs, and none is listed on the Horsewood label. It is sold as a dietary supplement.

Does Horsewood affect nitric oxide?

The label makes no nitric oxide claim, and no study has measured nitric oxide with Horsewood. Its sales claim is support for healthy blood flow and male response, which is not a tested result.
